hi, all. i'm tink. fairly new to ferrets but have done so much research i feel like i've had them forever..LOL. i have rescued and rehabilitated MANY animals but i never went into the ferret spectrum till the beginning of this year (though i always wanted one and found them fascinating..). anyway, on to my boys...

taz is a DEW and deaf..according to real canadian he's eight months old..many tell me he's older because of his size..but i think he's just a big boy. he's quite sensitive and i went into a new horizon of communicating with a deafie that i am so happy i ventured into..we have a very special bond and of course he's my "first born" (ferret-wise). he can play very rough with the other animals b/c he can't hear their screams..but they come back for more so they must enjoy it! he loves to curl up next to you on the bed to sleep and he has never bitten down hard enough on me for it to hurt..a very sweet boy all around.

monkey is my new adoptee from the closest ferret shelter..he is two years old. poor dear was passed around to four different homes before finally residing at the shelter. i've only had him a little over two weeks but it seems like he's always been here because he fits perfectly with our houseold. he likes to play hard but also will kiss your face till you finally put him down...when you open his cage, he will wrap his little hands around your arm and kiss your hand until you take him out. he's so sweet, i can't imagine how anyone wouldn't want him.

i'm home on disability which means they get spoiled rotten. lastly, here is a pic of me and the boys together..

looking forward to chatting with you!

Hello, and welcome to The Hidey Hole! My apologies for such a late reply, it has been quite busy around here lately.

It's great that you did so much research on ferrets before getting one. They can sometimes be a handful, so being prepared and knowing some of what to expect can be very useful. Wink

We've also had the pleasure to be owned by a deaf little girl named Vivi, who we miss very, very much. The deaf ferrets really are special, and do seem to bond very closely with their humans. Vivi also had a habit of being very rough with her siblings and they would hiss or scream at her, but she didn't realize it and would continue the rough play. Eventually, the other ferrets quit engaging in play with her, which was really sad because I know she didn't mean to hurt anyone. We did our best to make up for it by spending lots of time playing with her.

I'm so glad that you and Taz also have a special bond. I think it is very important for ferrets with special needs to find a loving human that can understand them.

Taz is an adorable ferret! I love the picture of him covered in dirt!

Monkey is very cute! It's a shame when such sweet animals are given up like that, but at least he found his new forever home with you. It sounds like he's a very happy ferret now. Very Happy
