These pages are dedicated to ALL ferrets, for all the love, joy and happiness they bring into our lives, for the ones who have crossed over the rainbow bridge and especially to the ones who are in shelters, because their owners no longer wanted them or cared any more and who need loving, caring homes; adopt a ferret. Here is a little information on ferrets: Ferrets are domestic animals, cousins of weasels, skunks and otters. They are NOT rodents. They are mustelids. They are very friendly and make excellent pets. They are very playful, with each other and with their people, and they don't lose much of that playfulness as they get older. A ferret or even better, lots of them can be very entertaining companions. If you've never met a ferret before, the easiest way to think of a ferret is that they are cuddly little furballs that like to be bouncey and frolick with each other or with their people. When ferrets are really happy and excited they make a noise that has a special sound that is called "dooking". It has been said that it is rare for a ferret to wags it's tail unless they are extremely happy, but all 7 of our ferrets(mine and my daughters) have all wagged their tails on more than one occassion. Most people who own ferrets call these wonderful pets carpet sharks, furballs, ferts, fuzzbutts and wuzzles. We call our ferrets our "kiddos" because to us they are not just pets but our "kids" with fur. LOL Ferrets are a lot of fun. While 1 furball is intensely amuzing, 2 or more are hysterical. They are highly intelligent. It has been said that ferrets are smarter than cats and dogs, or at least they act it; my daughter and fiance have a deaf ferret and she reads lips. Imagine that! They are also very inquisitive and profoundly determined, which is part of their charm. They do know and love you. Also, with our kiddos, we've decided that we do not own the ferrets but rather, they own us. They can be trained to use a litter box and to do some tricks, and most of them love to go places with you, riding on a shoulder or in a bag. They sleep a lot, although they need to run around and play for at least a couple of hours a day. All of our ferrets have a room of their own which they play in, therefore, they are not caged up. We do not allow free roam of the entire house since there are so many hazards you have to take into consideration, unless you really ferret-proof your entire home. A "single" ferret won't be terribly lonely, although the fun of watching lots of them playing together is easily worth the extra work. Ferrets typically live 6-10 years. Ferrets have a special way of touching our hearts and can always bring a smile to any day.

Here is a picture of my boy furkid named Kodo on top of one of his hidey holes. He is a 3 1/2 year old neutered and descented dark brown sable, almost black. He was my second ferret that I bought only a few weeks after buying my female fert. Anyone with ferrets will know all about ferret math. He is a loveable soul who will play with all the other ferrets and he likes his people. Kodo has never bitten anyone and loves to give lots of ferret kisses and licks. He will some day be everyones lap ferret. When we give him a bath, he crosses his paws and it looks like he is our praying ferret. We have chosen a song for our ferrets that best describes their personality type and the one we selected for Kodo is the song "Wonderboy" by Tenacious D because he is a true wonder and a real sweetie..but then, they all are.

This picture is of the first ferret I got with Kodo close behind. Tacoma is a 3 1/2 year old female, brown sable who is spayed and descented. She is what I call my ADHD ferret who has more energy than most of the ferrets in the group. She is bouncy and loves to scale your back so she can take a flying leap to unreachable heights. She thinks she is "superman", able to leap tall buildings in a single leap. LOL. She is warm and cuddly, but doesn't sit still for long. She is also my lick, lick, lick, chomp ferret. She determines when and how long the kisses will last. Don't prompt her for more kisses when she is finished or you will end up getting the chomp. Got to love her energy and determination. By the way, the song chosen for Tacoma is "Born To Be Wild".

My son

This is my youngest child, Danny. He wrote a short story about my ferrets when he was 8 which I have kept, him now being 10. It is so cute. I am including his little story word for word just the way he wrote it. As you will see, he had some problems with spelling, punctuation and he always confused his B's and D's. This is what he wrote: "My mom and sister have 2 ferrets and there name is Tacoma and kodo. They are both 1 and a half years old. Kodo is the male ferret and Tacoma is the female and they are doth cute and furry. My mom got 1 ferret in December and the other one in January. Kodo and Tacoma are really fun to play with. We take are ferrets down to my other sister where there are 5 other ferrets. For them to play with there names are Duke, Vivi, Jamocha, Loki and Fria. They all have sow much fun playing together. They like to war dance and make dooking sounds. This tells us there happy. We love all the ferrets very much and enjoy whaching them de cute all the ferret love there treats, ferratone and hairdall they look sow cute when they smack there lips for there treats. We give all the ferrets sow much love and they give us love in return they make us happy whenever we might de sad. Ferrets are loved. The End!"
